BASE: Bespoke Artist Support & Exchange  

B.A.S.E is a brand new creative network for directors, actors, designers, dancers, teachers and artistic facilitators in and around the Lancaster area.

Through the network:

  • Meet with local artists to form vital creative relationships
  • Learn from other disciplines
  • Feed your own practice
  • Hone workshop-leading skills

Building on the success of October's first ever BASE event, the Dukes and Ludus Dance are teaming up again to host a completely free day of workshops, creative discussion and networking for artists in and around the Lancaster area.  All emerging, aspiring and established artists are welcome to join our BASE network, where you'll have chance to meet artists of all mediums and experience levels; from illustrators to directors, from dancers to make up artists, from actors to choreographers.  The event will take place between 10am - 3pm on Friday 17th February 2017 at the Ludus Dance Centre.  Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

10:00 - 10:15    Participants arrive at Ludus Dance.
10:15 - 12:00    Directing the Text session led by Dukes Associate Director, Alex Summers.
12:00 - 12:50    Lunch time.  With set conversation topics on different chairs:  'Challenges facing freelance artists,' 'Career goals,' 'Current projects that artists are working on.'
12:50 - 13:00    Debrief.
13:00 - 14:30    Afternoon session led by Ludus Dance's Creative Director Anthony Briggs on, 'How to spark an interest in the arts.' and 'How to keep that interest'
14:30 - 15:00    Opportunity for freelance artists to try out different exercises.
