Ellen Jeffrey

Hello! Having moved to Lancaster last year, I'm very excited to be joining the team at Ludus Dance this term. This past year I have met some wonderful people in Lancaster, so I'm really looking forward to being a part of Lancaster's dancing community at Ludus!

I trained as a contemporary dancer at Trinity Laban conservatoire, London, before moving to Finland to complete an MA in Live Art and Performance Studies at the University of Arts, Helsinki. For me, dancing is about the experience of motion and its expression - essentially, its about the enjoyment of moving!

On completing my studies, I have worked as a performer for a range of projects and people, including Summit Dance Theatre, Valerie Preston Dunlop and Vera Tussing Projects. Since moving to Lancaster it has been a joy to get involved with local dance artists, performing with La Petite Mort Dance Theatre and SAP Dance. As well as performing, I love teaching people of all ages and abilities. I started teaching dance and movement classes at Regent Summer Schools, before going on to assist on the undergraduate Historical Dance Project at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in 2014. Recently, I have been teaching class for professional dancers at Ludus, and at La Petite Mort Dance Theatre. I'm really looking forward to meeting some new people at Ludus and dancing alongside them - the classes will be open to people of all levels, so do come along and get involved!
