This could involve working for a dance company, in a theatre, for a regional arts or dance agency, or for an organisation which sets up and manages seasonal dance festivals and community dance projects. Many administrators have studied dance, or may have studied different subjects at college or university, or have an administration background. A dance manager often works with a number of projects at a time, managing a portfolio of activities. It is essential to be extremely well organised and have good computer skills. It is becoming more usual for administrators and managers to hold a BA or MA in Arts Administration or Management and many colleges and universities now offer such courses, such as Birkbeck, South Bank University, Anglia Ruskin and De Montfort.
