Funding for Dance Training
Finding the funds to study on dance courses can be a long and difficult process and there are many different funding streams available depending upon where and what you choose to study. For example, for vocational training at a CDET accredited vocational training school, it may be necessary to secure private funding via loans, scholarships and trusts. The Learning and Skills Council offer a limited number of Dance and Drama Awards (Da DA) annually to talented students training at approved dance and drama schools. There are a series of guides available, contact The Learning and Skills Council or go to Direct Gov.
Individual schools offering Da DA will also be able to provide further information.
Students studying for a degree, diploma or certificate awarded by a university are eligible for mandatory, Higher Education awards which cover the greater part of tuition fees and have access to a student loan to cover living costs.
The government website http://www.direct.gov.uk has comprehensive information about student finance for students undertaking Higher Education courses.
