Technical and Web Based Work Placements

Q. What work placements can I do at Ludus?
You can shadow the Stage Manager in all aspects of his job from 'get ins' operating the shows and 'get outs.' You can also join us in developing our web site.

Q. What's so good about work experience at Ludus?
Hopefully it is an opportunity to see a small co operative dance company in action. We program your time to ensure you get a variety of experiences so that you can really gain awareness of what our work involves. You can also be instrumental in planning your program. We provide you with meaningful tasks that will be beneficial to both you and the company.

Q. Do I need any previous experience?
For Technical Theatre work: You will need to have a keen interest in the theatre and backstage work. You will also have to be prepared to work unsociable hours whilst shadowing the Stage Manager. Basic lighting / sound and rigging knowledge is advisable as the show days are usually very hectic and rushed.

For Web Work: You will need a particular knowledge of the web and its workings. Especially helpful would be a familiarity with 'Dreamweaver' and 'Photo-shop'. You are ideal if you are undertaking a course that specialises in the web.

Q. Is there anything else I should know?
It is essential that you are self-motivated and are able to get on with the tasks set.

Write a letter or an e-mail to James Wooldridge (see the address below) explaining when you want the placement, and why and specifically what you wish to look at with us; admin, dance teaching, marketing etc.

Q.Do I need to provide any references?
It helps if you can provide at least one reference from a teacher or tutor.
