Welcome to Training Forum International (TFI), the annual Ludus Dance training programme for professional dance artists. This year we are delighted to bring you three diverse days of intensive training from the following renowned artists. All sessions take place at the Ludus Dance Centre, Lancaster.

Leon Hazelwood
Wednesday 30 May, 10am - 5pm

African – Lindy Hop – Jazz
A one day intensive offering an in depth practical exploration of technique, vocabulary and style. In addition, Leon will focus on developing an historical understanding and appreciation of the similarities or parallels between each form.

A dynamic and accomplished dancer, teacher and choreographer, Leon has worked extensively throughout the UK and Europe with companies such as Zoots and Spangles Authentic Jazz Co., Bullies Ballerinas, Riverdance, Cotton Club and Tapping Harlem

Liam Steele
Thursday 31 May, 10am - 5pm

Physical Theatre
An opportunity to explore choreographic ideas and and develop knowledge and skills in physical theatre techniques. Integral to this will be an exploration of various devising processes and how creative performers can communicate ideas and feelings clearly and honestly.

Liam Steel has gained an international reputation as one of Britain's leading physical theatre practitioners. He has directed, choreographed or performed with all of the foremost physical theatre companies in this country, including Complicité, Volcano Theatre Company, Nigel Charnock & Company and David Glass Ensemble. He is most widely recognised for his work with Frantic Assembly and with DV8 Physical Theatre. Liam is currently co-artistic director with Stan Won’t Dance. Jess Curtis
Thursday 7 June, 9.30am - 4pm

A rigorous training in improvisation, composition and physically inclusive contact. ‘We will develop a language to speak to each other and ourselves about our intentions and goals as improvisers/composers… We will address the body’s potential in terms of movement, sound, image, symbol and energetic container…How can our contact with another body or object change the range of our movement potential? Can two people’s limitations or ‘dis-abilities’ combine to become virtuosic?’

An accomplished and award-winning choreographer, based in San Francisco, Jess also teaches Dance, Contact Improvisation and Interdisciplinary Performance throughout the US and Europe. Jess has extensive experience of working with integrated groups.
